Chris Kyle, The Real Life Punisher!

Chris Kyle, The American Sniper, was a big fan of The Punisher. In fact, he and his team call themselves “The Punishers” out of respect and admiration for The Punisher. Painting Frank’s skull emblem on their vehicles, backpacks and uniforms, shooting enemies at a deadly accurate pace. He’s been making over 100 kills during his service in the Gulf War, coming back home to help soldiers suffering from Post Dramatic Stress Disorder. He wrote a book about his experience that inspired a huge blockbuster film years later. Unfortunately Kyle and a friend was shot and killed by Ray Routh, a lunatic whom Kyle was trying to help recover from a mental illness, at a shooting gallery in early 2013. Routh was eventually arrested, tried, and now convicted of capital murder.

“Mr. Routh and his lawyers had argued that he was not guilty by reason of insanity and that he belonged not in prison but at a state mental hospital. His two-week trial for the killings of Mr. Kyle and Mr. Kyle’s friend Chad Littlefield in 2013 centered on Mr. Routh’s state of mind. Jurors had to decide whether Mr. Routh’s erratic behavior, his delusions about hybrid pig people and his heavy drug use were proof of insanity or evidence that he was troubled but criminally responsible.”

But he was aware of the fact that what he did was wrong. The jury asked him if he’s aware of that fact and he said ‘yes.’ That was enough for the jury to convict him of capital murder and send him to prison for the rest of his life with no chances for parole.

Routh should be lucky Frank Castle is a fictional character. Cause if Frank was a real person, instead of being sent to prison, he’ll end up being one of Frank’s multiple victims who ends up shot and killed as the ultimate punishment for murdering innocent lives. But even if Frank do exist in our world, spending the rest of his life in prison would be a much better option for Routh than facing Frank’s vengeful wrath.
